Diversity, Equity + Inclusion

Gentex is committed to building a culture of inclusion where every team member belongs, is valued for their unique contributions, and can do their best work. Our desire is to attract and retain diverse talent that can help propel the business forward.

DEI Council

Led by the Vice President of Diversity Equity and Inclusion Joe Matthews, the Gentex DEI Council is a cross-departmental group of employees who support the company’s strategic initiatives to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion at Gentex.

DEI Strategic Initiatives

The company is working to break down barriers to employment. Here are some of the major initiatives underway to make it easier for people to be active in the workforce. Gentex Discovery Preschool

Gentex is building an on-site childcare center for the children of employees. The childcare center will have extended hours to meet the needs of parents working second shift.

Limited English Proficiency Program

People who primarily speak Spanish can apply for our Limited English Proficiency (LEP) program in manufacturing. The LEP program has expanded over the years and now includes opportunities on all three shifts in multiple facilities.

Cottage Grove Manufacturing Facility

Gentex opened a satellite manufacturing facility on Cottage Grove Street in Madison Square to provide job opportunities within walking distance to this underserved area and remove a transportation barrier to employment.

Technology Hub

It also opened a Technology Hub in downtown Grand Rapids to serve as a workspace for engineering and software technologists to support the company’s growing business and expanding product portfolio.

Business Resource Groups

Business Resource Groups help our employees become more engaged in ways to leverage diversity and increase inclusion. They foster communication between Gentex’s senior leadership and its employees, contribute to the development of our future leaders, expand our community outreach, and help strengthen our workforce and workplace.
